Top 10 poker chip tricks
Poker chip Tricks 1 – Thumb Flip.
It’s the classic thumb flip chip trick. One of the first chip tricks to emerge on the poker scene. It also happens to be one of the simplest and easiest to master.
Text guide (best used in conjunction with chip trick video guide below): All you will need are 3 or 4 chips and a desire to learn. Start by holding 4 chips in a sideways stack. You keep the chips stable with your ring and index finger. Use your middle finger to keep the chips from falling through the bottom. Next use your thumb to roll the front chip over the stack from the front to the back and allow gravity to pull it down the back. Your other fingers keep the stack stable. You can repeat this sequence numerous times. Hope you have fun with the thumb flip chip trick!
Poker chip Tricks 2 – The Shuffle
Get your finger nimble, it’s time to do the shuffle chip trick! It is almost like shuffling cards. This chip trick will also allow you to break in your new chip and relax at the same time. First make two poker chip stacks of 3 chips each next to each other on a soft surface to aid grip. Put your thumb at the bottom of the left stack and your index finger directly opposite that on the left chip stack. Put your middle finger in the middle of the two stacks farthest away from you (while still allowing the chip stacks to touch). Next place your ring finger on the far right and your pinky on the bottom right of the right stack. Start the chip trick by pressing the two stacks together with the four fingers on the outside of the poker chips while raising your middle finger to lift the stacks in the middle. As the chips begin to slide together lift your hand. The chips fill all fall together in one neat chip stack.
Poker chip tricks 3 – Chip Twirl
Twirl your way to poker fame. Don’t get too frustrated with this one – it takes a while to master. Start the same way as the thumb flip by holding three poker chips. Use your thumb to loosen the two outside chips while still supporting the middle poker chip with your ring and index finger and allow it to slide down. Use your middle finger to pull back on the chip and spin it toward your palm. Next bring the chip back into the middle of the two separated outer chips once it is back in line. Good luck!
Poker chip tricks 4 – Chip twirl variations
Step up the chip twirls, here comes a variation. Start as per standard poker chip twirl as per above with the following variation. You can spin two chips instead of one by starting with four poker chips. You can also do a roll and rest as per below but whilst the chip is resting on top of the stationary chips and your index finger you can twirl another and then replace both poker chips! So we are getting a bit complex. Remember to start small and build your poker chip tricks skill level by playing online poker while you practice. Yet another entails spinning the front chip and pushing it back in place of the existing middle chip so that it pops out the top and falls to the back of the stack.
Poker chip tricks 5 – Finger Flip (Dutch Boyde Finger Flip)
Not quite flipping the bird but if you do this poker chip trick right in front of your poker competition you might as well have. First performed at the 2003 WSOP it is one of the easiest to learn. Start by holding three chips between your thumb and index fingers slightly above the middle of the stack. Next move your middle finger up and out of the way and use your ring finger to move the two back chips down. Now once the two chips and halfway down the other two just use your index to pull back on the front poker chip and slide it over and down the back of the two. Use your pinky to catch it and the start over again.
Poker chip tricks 6 – Roll & Rest
It’s time to Rock n Roll with the roll n rest. This is yet another variation of the chip twirl trick so start the same way as a standard chip twirl. Once you get to the point that the chip is being spun around by your middle finger you stop halfway. At this point your middle finger is inside the poker chip. Now just lift your middle finger up to move the chip up onto the platform of your index finger and stationary poker chips. Now just bend your index finger to tip the poker chip back in between the stationary two.
Poker chip tricks 7 – Butterfly chip trick.
Just as beautiful but not quite as elusive, you don’t have to be part of the insect world to pull off this poker chip trick. Start by holding 4 chips as per thumb flip except your thumb will only touch the first two chips closer to your palm. Lift these two chips up with your thumb by rolling them on your index. Grab the bottom two with your pinky and ring finger and move them away from the other two. Your middle finger should be free now so move it in between the two stacks toward your palm to touch your thumb and pinky. Now roll one poker chip over your index with your thumb and one chip down your ring with your pinky. This will separate all four poker chips to look like a fan.
Poker chip tricks 8 – Chip Spin
First time you get it right will be more exhilarating than a spin in a Ferrari, lol. Go on give it a spin. Start by gripping one chip lightly between your index and thumb. Bring the poker chip down toward the table with a flick hand motion. As the chip hits the table and it still in your hand you can move your fingers slightly down the side of the chip to put extra spin on it. It must come down vertically so that it spins upright on its side. Once you master the pressure needed you will get the poker chip to move out and then roll back to your waiting hand.
Poker chip tricks 9 – Knuckle Roll
No need for knuckle dusters to intimidate your poker opponent’s just do the Knuckle roll and you will floor them. Start by holding a poker chip between your thumb and index finger knuckle. Push the chip up with your thumb and lower your index letting the chip flip over your index. Move your fingers together to grab the chip and move it upright. Now lower your middle finger to get the chip to flop over it and so on. Once the poker chip has reached your pinky you can go in the other direction or drop it and catch it with your thumb to bring it back to the starting point for another roll. Have fun with this chip trick. It’s fantastic once you master it!
